At iPresso, contacts are the recipients of your marketing activities. You can expand the contact database in three ways:
- manually add contacts
- uploading via API
You can find uploaded contacts in the contact manager.
Adding contacts manually
To manually add a contact, go to the contact manager, and in the top right corner click ADD CONTACT:
Complete the relevant fields. At least one of the following is required:
Last Name, Name, Email, Alternate Email, Mobile Phone, Stationary Phone
Once completed, click SAVE AND CLOSE:
You can import contacts via CSV file.
Go to contacts -> import contacts and download a sample file:
The file will contain columns with attribute names. You can add and remove these columns, so they match the attributes of your contacts in iPresso. The order of the columns does not matter, you will customize this later:
After completing the columns with attributes, save the file as a comma-separated UTF-8 CSV
Go back to iPresso, move to contacts, select "import contacts" and click IMPORT. The import window will appear:
Contact type, contact category - you can distinguish the type and/or category if you want to segment your contact database by default. Later you can use segmentation to give your contacts an appropriate type or category. A type could be, for example, a parent or child, a dog and its owner, a store or a wholesaler. You can use a category to tag contacts associated with a specific process you are running in iPresso, such as a retention or lead process.
Duplicates - specify what you want the system to do with duplicates. You can link them to existing ones, or duplicate them without linking.
Tags - this is another form of marking a certain group, by default designed to temporarily mark contacts (e.g. for a single campaign, or series).
In the next step, load the file you prepared. The "Fields mapping" window will appear - you can define the association of your file's columns with attributes in iPresso: there
This section will not display all the records from your file - this preview is used to map fields from your file to system attributes.
If you see that characters are not loading properly at this stage, correct your file encoding with relevant format, separated by commas.
Go further. In the last step, make sure all required fields have been completed and click IMPORT.
The import completion time depends on the volume of contacts. You can preview the import progress by clicking on TRACK IMPORT PROGRESS. Once the import is complete, you will see its summary under the path contact -> contacts import
Errors are usually caused by incorrect file format or incorrect values in the file (e.g. phone number in the email column). You can find imported contacts in the contact manager.
Transfer via API
If you already have a customer database in your system, you can integrate it with iPresso. With our REST API, you can download, edit, add and delete contacts.
You can think of the API as a bridge that allows you to exchange data between different systems. As an example, you can exchange data between CRM and iPresso. If you don't know how to do this, ask the administrator of the system you want to integrate.
Here are some details from the introduction to our API documentation:
iPresso API is based on REST architecture. It supports
DELETE requests. iPresso responds with data in JSON format. The response includes field
code, which specifies if the request was successful and informs about encountered errors. Error codes are compatible with the
HTTP status. The response also includes
message, which contains a written description of the code and
data, which contains data.
For details on sending contacts, see our API documentation.
