How to get started?
E-mail marketing is a popular and effective form of communicating with recipients, provided that the users are well segmented.
In iPresso, you can quickly and easily create a campaign that will help you meet your goals.
To get started, enter the Send section and select the E-mail communication channel:
Configuration - Settings
First, go through the configuration of email sending settings:
- Give the created campaign a Campaign Name, which is visible only to system users.\
- Select an appropriate marketing Consent based on which you will send your message. The e-mail will be executed only to the contacts holding the selected consent.
- If you want to use the e-mail message you create in MA scenarios, select "For scenarios" as the Campaign type. When you finish editing the mailing, it will be automatically saved in the section Campaigns -> For scenarios. Using this option omits the configuration of Recipients, as they are selected based on criteria when creating the scenario.
- We recommend that you assign an appropriate Tag to your creation to mark your mailing in the system. This will make it easier for you to find it e.g. in statistics. Remember that mailing Tags do not limit the group of recipients. They are used only for reporting purposes.
- E-mail type is the message you send - you have a choice of: marketing email and transactional email. Marketing emails require an unsubscribe link, which is usually placed in the footer of the email you send.
- The Subject Line of the email you send, is a key factor in determining whether an email will be opened and an important element in the success of your email deliverability.
The Subject and Recipient Name fields have the ability to be personalized according to our chosen attributes. A personalized subject is sure to catch the attention of your recipient, while setting a personalized Recipient Name field reduces the risk of your email going to spam. Entering "{firstName} {lastName}" in the "To:" field the recipient will see "John Smith" instead of "john@mail.pl". For personalization options, see the "Personalize Content" drop-down list. - The Sender email is the address from which the communication will be sent. By default, these are addresses in the ex2press domain, but we strongly recommend that you configure your own domain for mailings. If you are sending transactional and marketing emails, it is best if these are two, separate domains. Once configured, the new addresses will appear in this list.
- A/B test, allows you to test different variants of the mailing on a selected group of contacts, and then send the best version to the remaining recipients. This is a very useful functionality when we care about checking the conversion of the messages we send.
- E-mail address ("blind carbon copy (BCC)" field) enter if you want to send a copy of the email using BCC.
- Set the Reply-to email address if you want the replies to the mailing to be directed to a different e-mail box than the sender's address, enter the appropriate contact in the field.
- You can add the Campaign UTM to each link that is included in the mailing. UTMs are parameters which allow you to report campaigns in Google Analytics.
Configuration - Recipient
In the next step, configure the recipients:
As recipients of your message you can select:
- all contacts (not recommended),
- particular segment which is a selected group of recipients.
In case of creating a segment we have three options to choose from:
- Create a new segment: this option allows you to create a new segment based on the contacts' information collected in the system.
- Create a new segment based on the selected one: this option allows you to create a new segment, based on the edition of the segment created earlier. Contacts belonging to the created segment will be recalculated.
- Select segment from archive: this option allows you to select a previously created segment from the archive. This gives the possibility of multiple use of the previously defined set of criteria. In this case it is not possible to edit the segmentation criteria. Contacts belonging to the created segment will be recalculated.
Remember, that the number of recipients can be smaller than the number of contacts in the segment. The group of recipients will not include persons, who:
- do not have the consent selected by you in Settings,
- do not have a valid e-mail address,
- to whom you do not have access (iPresso system privileges).
Configuration - Content
Now it's time to create the content of the email dispatch:
You can choose from several options:
- Schemas will allow you to edit your content in a visual editor. Of course, you can freely customize them for your purposes.
- Themes are an even simpler template option, in which you have ready-to-use examples of e-mail creations.
- A Simple editor will give you the opportunity to paste the HTML code of the ready-made creation, which you can edit.
- The Own HTML code enables you to send a package of ZIP files with a ready-made creative, prepared for example by a creative agency or by us - use iPresso Creative Services.
Drag&drop editor on the example of diagrams
We recommend this option to users who care about simplicity and time.
On the left-hand side, you will find a menu from which you can move an item to the middle - the body of the email. This is a drag&drop mechanism, probably familiar to you from other systems and applications.
For your convenience, you can enable full-screen mode.
By hovering your cursor over an element, you can move, edit, copy or delete it:
Once you select an email element, you can edit its features. For example, let's take the element two columns:
Your choices include text, font and size, left and right column images. There are common settings, where you can choose your preferred column elements or background:
Dynamic email blocks
The Dynamic blocks mail is also worth mentioning. They are a way of nesting repetitive elements in emails, which can be created once and then nested in messages using a bracket ({{dmFeed_test}} in our example).
The dynamic blocks mail can also be HTML code or plain text.
Once creating or editing, you can drop it in a ready-made ZIP package or the HTML editor by directly inserting the code. Before adding the element to the email, you have to create it. In order to do that follow this path: Home > Content > E-mail elements > Dynamic blocks
Once created, drag the dynamic block element into the content and select the name of the previously created block on the left.
Other methods of editing content
Visual editor, working on the principle of what you see is what you get (the message you send will be identical or close to what is displayed to us on the editor screen).
Own HTML code editor where you can use the Blank template to paste your HTML code.
You can save the prepared mailing in the system memory at any time by clicking the blue button Save as template. This is especially convenient when creating messages for regular mailings, such as newsletters, where the layout and appearance of individual elements does not change.
Header and footer
Before saving your content, make sure your header and footer are set up properly. Just click on them to edit the fields. You can also prepare your own headers and footers in advance:
In the header, it is worth adding the preheader, i.e. the first sentence that the mail client will display to the user.
The footer should contain information about the reason for sending the mailing, a link/e-mail address to unsubscribe from the mailing, or, in case of a higher number of consents (mailing types), a link to the profile page, where the user can decide which mailings he/she wants to receive and which to remove. In the case of unsubscribing, iPresso automatically "substitutes" relevant links, which means that the user who clicks unsubscribe will have his consent deleted in iPresso. In the case of multiple permissions on an account, you have to create a profile page:
Summary
Go to the summary. If all items are green, the shipment can be approved. If there are red items, they need to be corrected. There may also be yellow items - they require attention, but will not prevent the shipment.
