When creating a campaign in iPresso, it is essential to determine its type. The type determines the processes in which the campaign can be used after it is saved.
There are three types of campaigns:
- standard
- scenario-based
- API-triggered
The type is selected after choosing the communication channel in the specific campaign's settings.
Standard campaign
The default setting is a standard campaign. It is the simplest type of campaign, where after filling in all the setting fields, defining recipients and content, we can send it immediately to customers or schedule it for a specific day and time.
Campaign for Scenarios
To use a campaign in a scenario, we need to change the slider's setting from a standard campaign to a scenario-based campaign (after saving the campaign, we can change its type).
In a scenario-based campaign, we do not specify the recipients during its creation; they are defined based on the entry criteria into the scenario and the designed path in the scenario. After saving such a campaign, it will go to the for scenarios tab.
The next step is to go to the previously prepared scenario or create it to use the campaign. When defining the email sending block and starting to fill in the "email campaign" field, the system will suggest the campaign's name based on the first letters, and we can choose it from the list.
After launching the scenario, in the campaign section, we can see in which scenario the campaign is placed.
It is also possible to edit such a campaign, e.g., to update the main campaign graphic. The edited campaign, after the changes, will be automatically replaced in the scenario, and its original version will be added to the panel.
API-triggered campaigns
The last type of campaigns is API-triggered campaigns. In this case, the campaign type will also be automatically selected as standard.
This campaign is characterized by the inability to conduct A/B testing, and, similarly to scenario-based campaigns, we do not directly specify the recipients of such a message during its creation.
An additional field that appears is the need to define the API key, which is necessary to call the prepared message. The key's name can be arbitrary, but it is worth leading to where it will be used.
We can use the prepared campaign in two places:
- in the iPresso panel
- outside of it
In the iPresso panel, we use campaigns in our abandoned process mechanism (Automation -> Abandoned Processes).
When we want to use a campaign in an abandoned process, only those campaigns that have been defined as API-triggered campaigns will be displayed.
Using a campaign outside the panel is possible precisely because of the previously completed API key field. To effectively implement it, it is necessary to familiarize ourselves with the previously prepared API documentation, where all necessary information is provided.
Example of use: we have a message on the site, and it is important that when clicked to the user, a confirmation email goes out in a quick time. Along with the activity "click the message" to iPresso comes a request prepared on the basis of documentation with sending an email, and the email is sent immediately. As a result, the user gets the email right after clicking.
