Attributes are information about the characteristics of a given contact. These include, for example, city, gender, age, interests, etc.
In addition to the immediately available system attributes, the Dictionaries section gives you the ability to define various types of attributes that can then be assigned to contacts in the database, depending on what information you want to collect.
In order to do that follow the below path:
System > Dictionaries > Contacts > Attributes
The entire list with the information about the API key, personalization bracket, type and status of the attribute will display. After clicking more (right-hand side) you have the option to delete, edit or hide it. Hiding an attribute will prevent it from being displayed when you add / edit / display a contact.
To define a new attribute, click the Add button, which is located in the upper right corner:
1. Provide the Name of the attribute, e.g. gender, interest, age.
2. Select the type of attribute. You have multiple options to choose from:
- Numeric value (choose this if your new attribute is, for example, age),
- Text value (up to 255 characters) (choose this if your new attribute is, for example, a blog name),
- Value True/False (choose this if your new attribute is, for example, employment status - employed/unemployed; YES/NO),
- Decimal (choose this if your new attribute is, for example, a product price),
- Date (with an additional option to convert to: Years, Months, Weeks, Days) - input format: YY-MM-DD,
- Date and time (with an additional option to convert to: Years, Months, Weeks, Days),
- Time (e.g., 12:30),
- One-of-many (choose this if your new attribute is, for example, gender, by adding multiple options with the ability to select one),
- Many-of-many (choose this if your new attribute is, for example, industry, by adding multiple options with the ability to select several),
- Attribute clearing – the ability to import an empty value, meaning clearing the current one, using the content “API_NULL”.
Attributes "One-of-many" and "Many-of-many"
When adding this type of attribute, you must remember that the import file must contain API keys for individual values.
For example:
If you choose the "many-of-many" attribute, the import field must contain the API keys of the values you want to import for a contact.
You must ensure that all values to be assigned to a contact are included in the attribute creation options.
Preparing a CSV file for "one-of-many" and "many-of-many" attributes.
When creating an attribute, select its name, based on which the system will generate an API key.
The next step will be for you to add the values that the created attribute will contain.
All available options will be created and can be found in the "options" dropdown.
The copied API key must be pasted into the column responsible for the value you want to import into the contact.
In the case of the "one-of-many" attribute, assigning a value involves using one of the available fields, also by inserting the API key value.
For both types of attributes, there is also a predefined value API_NULL, which is used to clear the field.

NOTE!
In regards to efficiency of your iPresso, we recommend limiting the number of
attributes of different types up to 50. If you need more - contact us, and we will help
you to optimize this number.
In addition, if the base of your contacts in iPresso is to exceed 800 thousand
ever added to your account - let us know. Once this number is exceeded, the system
will automatically prevent you from adding more attributes, but we can help you
increase it safely.
